Isometric city

This was a second year piece of work which I did where i had to create a 'play thing'. This was my response, it was intended to be a animation which would be interactive and eventually end up as my site, however due to the detail and countless number of strokes it was too slow to work with. However here are some of the screens from it.

Vititate Magazine (personal set brief)

Bitstream

This is a digital type foundary created in the early 1980's. Bitstream has been a leader in the development of font technology, digital fonts, and custom typeface designs. Bitstream typefaces are finely crafted professional-quality fonts, the type of choice for thousands of customers around the world. Bitstream cover a wide variety of font solutions and typically work on the development of open typefaces. Their work may be considered boring, but they have contributed greatly to the boom of desktop publishing.

Hand drawn type artist

Nate Williams-another guy i stumbled across whilst researching hand drawn typography. Nate specialises in type and his work is quite nice, i have decided to look at more illustrators and their approach to type.

Beatles Stuff for kids (cd art)
This piece received a "Citation for Typographic Excellence" from the Type Directors Club - http://www.tdc.

Alice Tait

I stumbled across this illustrator whose work i found really appealing. I particulary like the way she works with type, has that raw untidy finish, yet it works really well

Olympics 2012

Was speaking to Ash Spurr the other day and we were talking about the new revised olympic logo for the 2012 olympics. In my opinion its the biggest pile of guff ive ever seen, ash said the designer was paid something like 400,000 grand. What id like to know is what they are thinking behind this design.. seriously i would.. because i feel though as though im missing something. The old logo was ok, maybe slightly dated, but in comparison to the new one... it somewhats looks better. The new logo was designed by Wolff Ollins, and the looks of things havent come forward to backup there idea. Apparently Lord Coe (Olympic commitee) stands by the logo and even though it has recieved widespread criticism and negative response, he is determined it will reach younger people which is what they are aiming for this time.
